Some of the deepest wounds don’t come from what happened.

They come from what changed.

Childhood, Interrupted explores the collision between innocence and experience. The familiar cartoon characters that once represented safety, imagination and escape are layered beneath graffiti, fractured surfaces and deliberate destruction—symbols of a childhood that can never be returned to exactly as it was.

Every tear is intentional.

Every exposed layer reveals another story beneath the surface, reminding us that our lives are never made from a single chapter. What appears damaged isn’t broken—it has simply lived.

This work asks us to reconsider nostalgia. We often remember childhood through softened edges, forgetting that even our earliest years shaped the people we would become. The canvas carries those contradictions: playfulness and pain, humour and survival, innocence and resilience.

Because even after everything life paints over us…

something essential remains.
