UNRAVELED ICONS
UNRAVELED ICONS
Bo Wilde doesn’t paint to hide the canvas. She paints to expose it.
Every piece begins with destruction. The canvas is ripped, torn and distressed by hand before layer upon layer of acrylic, spray paint, charcoal and graffiti are applied. Rather than covering the damage, she celebrates it, allowing the raw fibres and exposed edges to become part of the final artwork.
Her work explores the tension between innocence and experience, beauty and chaos, perfection and imperfection. Familiar icons are placed amongst torn canvas and expressive graffiti to remind us that even the things we treasure most are shaped by time, struggle and transformation.
No two tears can ever be recreated. No two canvases are ever the same.
Each original is a one-of-one piece, carrying its own scars, textures and story.
“We spend so much of our lives trying to hide what’s been broken. My art exists to prove that’s often the most beautiful part.” – Bo Wilde
